The esteemed media baron and movie mogul passed away at the age of 87. Ramoji Rao was admitted to Star Hospitals in Nanakramguda, Hyderabad, on June 5, following episodes of high blood pressure and breathlessness. Despite medical interventions, including the installation of a stent and ventilator support in the ICU, he succumbed after his condition worsened. Notably, he had previously triumphed over colon cancer a few years ago, showcasing his resilience.

Ramoji Rao’s journey from humble beginnings to monumental success is a saga of inspiration. Born on November 16, 1936, in Pedaparupudi village, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, he hailed from an agricultural family. His entrepreneurial spirit and vision transformed him into a titan of the media and entertainment industry. He founded the world-renowned Ramoji Film City, the largest theme park and film studio globally.

His empire, however, extended far beyond Ramoji Film City. He established the Margadarsi Chit Fund, a pioneering financial institution. The Eenadu newspaper, another of his ventures, revolutionised regional journalism in India. His media influence further expanded with the ETV Network, providing diverse television content across multiple languages. Education, too, was a focus, leading to the establishment of Ramadevi Public School.

Ramoji Rao’s entrepreneurial ventures also encompassed the food industry with Priya Foods, a beloved brand known for its diverse range of food products. In the realm of arts and crafts, Kalanjali became a household name, promoting traditional Indian handicrafts. Ushakiran Movies, his film production company, contributed significantly to Indian cinema, producing numerous acclaimed films. The Dolphin Group of Hotels further showcased his acumen in the hospitality industry.

Ramoji Rao’s legacy is a testament to his multifaceted genius and indomitable spirit. His contributions to media, entertainment, education, and various industries have left an indelible mark on Indian society. As the world mourns his passing, it also celebrates a life that exemplified vision, resilience, and unparalleled success.
