Y S Sharmila: Before the 2024 Andhra Pradesh elections, the sudden demise of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s family stirred nationwide attention. The entry of Y.S. Sharmila into Andhra Pradesh politics, contesting against her brother Jagan, raised eyebrows. Accusations were made against Jagan, but no one dared to speculate further. Eventually, Jagan’s mother, Vijayamma, sided with her daughter, Sharmila.

“I truly miss my brother. He was like a father to me. But I’ve witnessed Jagananna’s transformation upon gaining power. He has changed a lot, not just for political gains or assets, but I haven’t asked for any post until now,” said Y.S. Sharmila.

Her battle against Jagan Mohan Reddy is for the people’s sake. However, her efforts seem futile. She feels justice hasn’t prevailed even after fifteen years since Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. She’s adamant about staying for her father. She’ll continue her fight even if Avinash Reddy refrains from contesting, she declared during a legislative session.

“At present, along with my mother and son, I’m peacefully residing in the U.S. I’m not inclined to be part of the Congress Party. I’ll resign and stay away from politics if Congress comes to power again. But it’s my duty to strengthen the party,” stated Y.S. Sharmila.
