Designed by Kengal Hanumanthaiah, a visionary architect and the then Chief Minister of Karnataka, the Vidhana Soudha was built in the 1950s to house the state legislature. Its construction took over four years, and the building was inaugurated in 1956 by the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.

The architectural style of the Vidhana Soudha is a magnificent blend of Dravidian and Indo-Saracenic influences, with elements of Neo-Dravidian architecture. Standing tall at a height of over 46 meters, it boasts a grand facade adorned with numerous intricate carvings, sculptures, and motifs, showcasing the craftsmanship of skilled artisans from across Karnataka.
