Bengaluru :BPL and Antyodaya Card Holders: ‘Anna Bhagya’ Cash Transfer Halted; Additional Rice Money not credited

Bengaluru: BPL (Below Poverty Line) and Antyodaya cardholders are facing a setback as the cash transfer under the Anna Bhagya scheme, which substitutes 5 kg of additional rice with ₹170, has been halted for the past three months.

The additional rice money, which was being directly credited to the beneficiaries’ accounts, has not been deposited. Over 1.13 crore ration cardholder families under the Antyodaya and BPL schemes, comprising more than four crore beneficiaries, are supposed to receive ₹660 crore each month for the additional 5 kg of rice. However, it has been reported that no money has been credited for March, April, and May.

Interestingly, the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, which provides a monthly deposit of ₹2,000 to women’s accounts, continues to be credited without any issues.
